As a follower of Christ, I have a great love for Contemporary Christian music, and Keith Green has been a long time favorite. He wrote many songs which are now considered Gospel classics, and was passionate about sharing his faith.

Keith came to music early learning to play the ukulele by age 3, guitar by age 5, and piano by age 7. He even became a “rock star” at the age of 12. Keith had a Jewish heritage but was raised as Christian Scientist, and continued his spiritual searching. At 19, he met and married Melody Steiner. In 1975, Keith and Melody became followers of Christ and started his Christian music career in 1976.

Keith and Melody began a ministry called Last Days Ministries in 1978 and Keith continued writing and performing the songs that became his legacy here on earth. Keith died in a small plane crash (with a young daughter and son) while flying around to view part some newly acquired land in July, 1982.

Keith made a lasting impression in Christian Contemporary music and in fact laid much of the foundation for future artists. If the name is new to you, give a listen to the Spotify playlist below. It is my pleasure to share with you,

Steve Whitfield/Master of Tunes
